Consult the business owner or manager to examine operations and establish chart of accounts and opening balances for assets, liabilities, equity, income, cost of sales and expenses. This includes making sure this chart is validated and authorised.
Verify invoices and other source documents for accuracy and compliance with taxation requirements and investigate discrepancies between monies owed and monies paid, according to organisational policies and procedures.
Ensure payments are made and money is received and banked. This includes ensuring receipts and payments are coded and recorded in a bookkeeping system on a cash basis, and cash register is balanced.
Prepare an expenditure authorization record, ensuring expenditure is encoded, recorded, reconciled and reimbursed.
Process credit card transactions against invoices and other source documents and statements. This includes checking payments are processed in line with organisational policies and procedures.
Verify processed transactions against bank statements and ensure bank statements are reconciled to balance. This includes producing reports in line with business needs.

Entry requires the successful completion of Year 10 level English. If you have not achieved this, you can demonstrate this knowledge by:
- Completion of a nationally-recognised training qualification at a Certificate III level or higher
- 3 years relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication
- completing our pre-course commencement Literacy, Language and Numeracy assessment.
